Jennifer Bain is a contemporary painter whose work moves fluidly between abstraction and representation, creating luminous compositions in which vividly rendered birds emerge within layered geometric environments. Through this juxtaposition, Bain explores themes of freedom and structure, the natural and the constructed, and the subtle boundary between the material world and the spiritual.

Raised in New York City and educated at California College of the Arts and the San Francisco Art Institute, Bain approaches painting as a contemplative and philosophical practice shaped by intuition, inquiry, and an enduring interest in wholeness and connectivity. Her mature works place quietly attentive bird figures within chromatically layered, architectonic fields that invite reflection and interpretation.

Bain has exhibited widely in solo and group presentations at Skidmore Contemporary, Michael Warren Contemporary, Bridget Mayer Gallery, the Oakland Museum of California, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art Artist’s Gallery, among others. Her work appears in private and institutional collections including the San Francisco Art Commission, Walnut Creek Public Library, and the U.S. Department of State Art in Embassies Program.
