Andy Dickson
About the Artist
Andy Dickson is a landscape painter and printmaker from Long Beach, California. His artwork is characterized by a focus on unconventional and remote locations that are often overlooked. He prefers a naturalistic approach to painting, working on site from direct observation. Andy has developed a unique body of work dedicated to the landscape of the Salton Sea in the California desert and has participated in multiple exhibitions related to the recognition and preservation of this unique and under-appreciated region of California. Andy’s artwork has been exhibited at The Bowers Museum in Santa Ana,The Marks Art Center in Palm Desert, The Fisher Gallery at The University of Southern California, The Autry Museum of the American West, The Los Angeles Museum of Natural History, Wright State University, Beijing Normal University in Beijing, China, Monterey Peninsula College, The College of the Sequoias, and Biola University. Andy’s artwork has been published in several books including: Poetry Evoked by Black and White, Ways of Expressions in East and West, published by Beijing Normal University, Essential Techniques of Landscape Drawing by Susan Brooker, and Manifest Gallery’s International Drawing Annual. Andy is a Professor of Art at California State University, Fullerton where he teaches classes in drawing and painting. During the 2018-19 academic year, Andy was the Resident Director of California State University’s International Program in Florence, Italy. He also has coordinated and taught multiple international study abroad courses in Italy and France
