Progression, oil on panel, 2025
Southern California-based artist Eric Theodore creates contemplative, luminous oil paintings of the male body, modulating between classical realism and contemporary symbolism.
Theodore's work investigates the duality of body and mind, a quiet yearning, and the tension between stillness and motion. In the classical tradition of Greco-Roman sculpture and academic figure studies, he composes the body as a poetic vessel through which interior life is expressed.
His work appears in numerous public and private collections including the Bakersfield Museum of Art, Laguna College of Art + Design, the Grace Doherty Library, among others.
